PALO ALTO, CA, February 20, 1996 -- Pretec Electronics Corp. has announced its membership in the four month old CompactFlash Association (CFA) and immediately announced product samples of 4MB and 8MB CompactFlash ATA cards to be demonstrated at the PC Card Expo '96, February 19, 20 and 21 at the San Jose Convention Center., San Jose, California.
The CFA , which has over thirty member companies, promotes the adoption of CompactFlash as a new industry standard for removable digital data storage.
Bill Frank, CFA Executive Director, said "The endorsement of the CompactFlash standard by Pretec adds to the multiple sources for CF storage products that are used across many different applications. We expect an increasing number of sources for CompactFlash to be announced in the near future. The support of these companies also will increase demand for CF by encouraging more companies to begin to designing CF into future generation digital cameras, pentop computers, PDAs, cellular phones and other products."

The CompactFlash storage card is an ultra-small, removable data storage system, which meets all PCMCIA standards, can be easily slipped into a passive adapter card which then can be used to move data, images and audio to any standard PC card slot in computers, printers, set-top boxes and other electronic platforms.
Pretec offers a broad spectrum of Flash memory cards based on various technologies, including Speedy Flash cards for HP Palmtops (95/100/200LX), Linear Flash cards, and Flash ATA PC Cards as mass-storage solutions for a variety of PDA, PCA, and hand-held devices. The CompactFlash Association was founded in October 1995, by Apple Computer Inc., Canon, Eastman Kodak Company, Hewlett-Packard, LG Semicon, Matsushita (Panasonic), Motorola, NEC, Polaroid, SanDisk, Seagate and Seiko Epson. The organization promotes adoption of CompactFlash as a worldwide storage standard.
